“Chantal was actually a customer first. She asked what I was doing with wholesale sales, and that one conversation turned into something much bigger.
We spent 14 months working together. She initiated our email marketing from scratch, communicating directly with our wholesale partners and retail customers for the first time. We updated our Shopify site with new SEO practices, launched our blog, rewrote product descriptions, and launched our first Black Friday sale.
The financial results were strong, but what I valued most was the deeper connection we built with our customers. I’d grown a large organic following on Instagram when that was still the most engaging channel—but now I have a more direct way to reach and communicate with our community that I didn’t have before.
She supported us through one of our busiest seasons, including our Jilly Box launch, and when our time together wrapped up we stayed connected as friends. She’s still a customer and a supporter to this day. That says a lot about how she works.”
Custom Shopify Store + Strategy + Product Development
FOLKLIFE Media
Excerpt From Building A Strategy and Website for a Brand Deeply Rooted in Heart, first published on FOLKLIFE.
“I gathered as much information as I could and pitched a more comprehensive idea than what she’d been thinking. I saw the opportunity within the budget to build a fully developed FOLKLIFE strategy, dive into the market, goals, and future plans.
Because the project focus was publishing more editorial content, others had suggested moving away from Shopify, and into Wordpress. I’m never one to suggest change for the sake of it.
I knew Shopify’s capabilities, and that the goals for the brand are to publish online editorial in a customized blog, make ordering easy, grow their subscriber base, and sell more print volumes, and that long term, Shopify could be the best and most easy-to-use seamless solution.
I brought on Cory Ripley from Exhibit A: Design Group, to do the brand strategy, including new audience research.
Alina and I worked closely and tirelessly to build almost everything on her wish list.” —Chantal Ireland
“I won’t say this website project has been an easy road. It was actually very very hard, and what was meant to be two months took six. But we made it, and it’s been worth every amount of energy that was put into it.
Chantal Ireland is the person behind the brand/business strategy, design, and build, working endlessly on every little piece, using the Shopify platform to make a content-heavy site—not an easy feat. Kudos to Chantal.” —Alina Cerminara, Publisher, FOLKLIFE
Alina and Chantal both published stories about their experiences on the new FOLKLIFE website, you can read Alina’s, and Chantal’s.
Digital Advertorial Product Development - CommunityFOLK
As part of the revenue strategy, we outlined a digital advertising model that FOLKLIFE already had top of mind. We tested a few iterations, with a focus on the reader experience—both visual and editorial—and on making the advertising feel like a natural extension of the brand rather than an interruption.
CommunityFOLK emerged from that process. A platform where brands could reach the community and publish editorial that delivered on what FOLKLIFE readers already expected. We built it as a custom section within the new Shopify store and sold the first spots to get it launched.
The last job I ever had
Salt Spring Coffee
I joined the Salt Spring Coffee sales team in June 2011. The company was just starting a brand strategy and repositioning toward a higher-quality standard across everything it did. New packaging. A clearer story. A more rigorous approach to the coffee itself, from the farms in Nicaragua and Peru through to the cup at the customer’s counter.
Director of Marketing Aron Bjornson and the team at Exhibit A: Design Group were rebuilding the brand’s look and feel in the world. My job, as the Territory Manager covering Vancouver and, later, Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands, was to take that work into the field and execute it at the store level.

“Chantal joined us on the day BC shut down for the pandemic. We spent almost a year together, and her impact during an already pivotal time for the brand was significant.
We established a new distributor relationship, completely overhauled our sales program, and rebuilt our financial and reporting systems from the ground up. Sales grew 80% year over year.
She helped reshape and then lead our sales team, built us a new Shopify website to support retail sales, and her support during a $500K raise gave me the space to focus on the big picture.
It was a challenging year for everyone. Having her in our corner made all the difference.”

You’ve already done the hard part.
You made something.
You got it on a shelf, into the hands of people who love it, and built a team around it. Most people never get this far. Now you’re ready for what’s next—connecting your brand strategy, revenue channels, and your crew.
Maybe you built a production kitchen, offer a premium service, or have a product line that started at the kitchen table. You’re scaling recipes or production runs, managing vendor relationships, navigating quality control, and handling things you never even thought of when you started.
Getting clear on your strategy, your sales channels, and how your team works towards a common goal is the next step. The return on your investment shows up in sales, in culture, and in easier decision-making. Things get smoother when your team rows in the same direction.
Something shifts when your customers understand who you are and whether you’re for them.
We help chart the route. You’re at the helm.
Let’s get your ship together.
